MoH Crisis HelpLine: A helpline is in its planning stages where MoH is seeking to train Muslim counsellors and other volunteers to assist in crisis and immediate counselling.
MoH Positive Change Program (for men) A facilitated group or, one-on-one, program where violent partners learn techniques to understand their emotions and change their behaviours to a positive lifestyle change.
MoH Men's Health: A unique approach to discuss and produce material for Muslim men with respect to various health issues that seeks to challenge misconceptions of commonly held cultural beliefs with Islamic and scientific sources.
MoH Family Planning Health Education: MoH is currently researching this area in the hope to develop health education material specific for the Muslim community. This entails researching contraception, the role of the family and the importance of women in society. This information would then be transposed into an Australian context by carrying out qualitative research among the Muslim community. The results will then assist in developing health education pamphlets to be distributed among Sydney health services.
Positive Muslims Australia: A HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention campaign for the Muslim community that seeks to re-integrate HIV/AIDS sufferers back into the community and provide support services and health advice for Muslims living with AIDS. A prevention tool kit is also being developed that can be distributed to the Muslim community. Download more information
The Fatiha Project: A Drug Awareness and Prevention Campaign that is culturally appropriate for the Muslim community. This is being developed to target different needs for parents and Youth because of the generational, communication, responsibility differences of youth and parents. Strong networking and liaising has been sought within the Muslim community to support this Project that was launched in July 2004. Download more information
MoH Women's Support: for women experiencing Domestic Violence is about to commence at MoH. Inititally, the service will offer a listening ear, short-term counseling, referrals, suicide prevention, positive self-development programs on issues of self-esteem and parenting. The overall aim of the project is to more clearly identify the needs of this group of people to develop appropriate services in response. Also, training to health professionals working with women in DV, and the provision of culturally appropriate resources on DV for the Muslim community, will be developed. Download more information
MoH Health and Well-being Seminars: An initiative for community leaders and the public in the form of lectures, workshops and forums that cover essential informations about everyday health, well-being, and welfare, issues.
