Trained volunteers will assist at-risk youth on the streets of Bankstown, Lakemba, and Auburn areas with information, referral and emotional support in a manner designed to meet the unique cultural and religious needs of the diverse Australian Muslim community.
The project will require trained volunteers dressed in uniform to approach at-risk youth to begin conversation with them. You will be required to give appropriate advice and information regarding social, emotional, and personal issues that these youths may be experiencing difficulty with. The role of the AMAL Street Outreach Volunteer will also include making appropriate referrals to other community and mainstream agencies.
The pilot program requires that volunteers are sensitive to the needs of the diverse Muslim community.
